  Dreamfall - a game I, for some reason, can't seem to stop talking about - is appearing on many 'Games to Watch' and 'Best of' lists for 2005, including (but not limited to) those compiled by Computer Games Magazine, PC Zone, and Eurogamer, who have been kind enough to include us on both their PC and Xbox lists.

Eurogamer, by the way, has evolved into one of those must-read gaming sites - mostly because of their rather excellent reviews. Written by grown-ups, for growns-ups, their reviews are refreshingly free of badly spelled hyperbole and publisher-catering sound bites, and I quite look forward to hearing their thoughts on Dreamfall. Give them a read, and, if you're European - or you're looking for proper game journalism - keep them bookmarked. They're definitely worth your browsing time.

While I'm at it, I might as well recommend Kotaku, which is the very best alternative gaming blog around. They've got all the news worth reading, compiled into bite sized chunks - with added sarcasm for flavour.

Comments:
Does the fact that they put Dreamfall only on the PC and Xbox lists mean that Xbox will be the only console Dreamfall will be released on?

Hey, thanks for the eurogamer.net link! I always avoided it because I figured it wouldn't have any news I cared about (I guess Europeans have the same games though...). Anyway, it's like ign.com before it became horrible. Can't wait for Dreamfall ;)

The Xbox version wasn't confirmed but people have known for months now from not so subtle clues.

Porting to the PS2 is harder because it isn't half as powerful as the other platforms. Plus it's already past the end of its life

The engine doesn't have support for the cube so that would make it harder to port.

Maybe they'll start making for other consoles, I think it would be after they release it though.

Dreamfall uses the Shark3d engine.

"Currently Shark 3D is available for Windows™, Linux™, PlayStation® 2 and Xbox™ video game system."

The PS2 is likely too weak, so skip that one.

(Please please do a Linux version :}

I found that your engine does GLOW. I'm a 3d programmer and I found post-processing effects more interesting that increasing trianges count and so on. With good GLOW you can do scenes that are REALLY breath-taking! Look at Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Sometimes it looks almost like painting. These scenes make me almost cry. I really like to see good glow effect in Dreamfall. You just simple glow scenes in game could look really breath-taking and you can make people cry while playing Dreamfall just because of great graphics. Of course the most important thing is plot - but I'm now scared of that, because I know that plot is gonna be great, like in TLJ was. I love TLJ :)
