Have installed Firefox on all three of my computers - PowerBook and Dell laptops, and my office PC - but I'm not sure yet if I want to permanently switch from Explorer/Safari. It's fast and stable, but I have a few issues. First off, it doesn't remember all of my passwords (there may be an easy fix to that, but I haven't found it); secondly, the backspace key doesn't work as a 'back one page' shortcut. I'm used to that from the other browsers, and it's hard to adjust. Yeah, I know about the security issues, but I've never had any real trouble with Explorer, and I like Safari a lot. I'll keep using Firefox in the weeks to come, so we'll see. I might adjust to it. Besides, change is good. I like change.
Comments:
Interesting; the Windows and Linux versions of Firefox *do* have the backspace key go-back shortcut, last I checked. Poking around on Google, it's apparently absent from the Mac version.

It won't offer to remember passwords for https sites. Maybe that's what's happening to you?

By the way, the world's best shortcut... click links with the middle mouse button or mouse wheel to open them in a new tab.

backspace works for me as "go back"

i would never be able to go back to explorer, because i love tabbed browsing too much.

Two words: Mouse gestures. That and tab browsing makes my firefox experience an hormonally-stimulating one. Cheers man your blog is awesome.

I use Opera myself, but I like firefox too. I can't understand how people could prefer any other browser over them.

Well unless you don't like fast, secure, compliant, stable, and mouse gestures that is.

Not having tabbed browsing for so long was unforgivable. Also no pop-up blocking until a few months ago, way to stay behind microsoft.

I've used FF for a couple of weeks now - ok - popup/ad blocker is very effective. Extentions are Fab! Quicknote, Foxy tunes, ieview, bugmenot, reloadevery. But keep ie for backup.

well alan, it's not easy to get rid of ie anyway. it's pretty much integrated into windows. which, is bs.
