Winter came again tonight, and it's snowing still, although the above-zero temperature is turning everything into grey slush, and walking the streets is like wading through inches of mucky water. Nice.
The
Lost in Translation soundtrack CD is playing on my stereo, and the track "Kaze Wo Atsumete" by Happy End is undoubtedly the album's highlight, which also includes tracks by Air and Kevin Shields. Worth picking up.
We completed our internal deadline, and ensuing presentation, with flying colours yesterday, and I think everyone was very impressed with what the team - especially our supremely talented artists and programmers - have accomplished. We are, of course, talking about
The Longest Journey, or what I'm now referring to (for the lack of a proper title) as 'TLJ-Next'. The game looks absolutely stunningly beautiful...and we're still a long, long way away from release, so this ought to be good. Without spoiling anything, there's one scene in particular that will be very familiar to fans of the first game, which looks a hundred times better in real time 3D than it did in pre-rendered 2D. It's quite amazing. And that's just the beginning. Wait until you see the
characters. Oh my.
By the way, keep your collective eyes open for the TLJ-Next team's Christmas gift to the community, coming soon to you via
AdventureGamers.com - which just happens to be, in my honest opinion, the best pure adventure gaming site out there.
I had originally planned to take all of next week off from work, seeing as: a) our most important Christmas deadline is past, and the next one isn't until mid-January; b) I have tons and tons of vacation days left; and c) I have so much writing to do, and no time to do it in - but it appears that this cunning plan has been temporarily foiled. So I will be working this Monday, but, fingers crossed, that will be it for this year.
Tonight sees the first of the many, many family Christmas parties, which means good food, good company, and, uh, more good food. The holiday season is a dangerous time indeed.
