I am supposed to be in bed, so this will be short:
I had the great pleasure of seeing (deep breath)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King at a special charity screening Monday evening, which was attended by Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), Andy Serkis (Gollum), and Bernard Hill (King Theoden), who all happened to sit just a few metres in front of me during the movie. Which was fun. Look up, see Aragorn on the enormous screen in front of you; look down, see Aragorn (wearing a Norwegian sweater) sitting in his seat...looking at Aragorn. Freaky.
I actually got the ticket for free (which sort of goes against the whole 'charity' idea, don't you think?) about three hours before the show started, and I hadn't planned on seeing until later this week. Sometimes these things just happen. Apparently this was the biggest screening of the movie in the world, with 5,000 people in the audience, most of whom (aside from yours truly and company) had paid around $80 to see it.
The movie? I need to see it again on Friday before I can write anything. It's just one of those things. I haven't yet processed it. But it didn't disappoint.
Oh, and I'm off to Japan in March, which came as a great surprise to me today, despite the fact that I bought the tickets myself, and it's a vacation, and not a business trip.
Like I said, sometimes these things just...happen.
